World Maritime Day, established in 1978, raises awareness of the vital role shipping plays in the global economy and in the daily lives of communities around the world.
In 2023, the Seafarers’ Ministry of the Golden Gate at the International Maritime Center (SMGG-at-the-IMC) launched the World Maritime Day Community Connections Breakfast to bring this global observance home to the Bay Area, with a special focus on the welfare and wellbeing of the seafarers on whom we all depend.
On Friday, September 25, 2026, SMGG-at-the-IMC will host the 4th Annual World Maritime Day Community Connections Breakfast at Scott’s Jack London Square. The event brings maritime industry members together with leaders from the Greater Bay Area’s business, arts, civic, faith, and academic communities to celebrate shared maritime traditions and strengthen cross-sector relationships.
