Maritime Community Connections Breakfast

A Maritime Business Connections Gathering To

CELEBRATE WORLD MARITIME DAY Established by the United Nations in 1978, World Maritime Day is meant to raise awareness about the importance of the shipping industry and the vital contribution it makes to places all over the globe. The 2023 theme – MARPOL AT 50 highlights the UN’s and the IMO’s [International Maritime Organization] commitment to protecting and preserving the marine environment.

AFFIRM AND PROMOTE the overall accomplishments, impact, and clean energy efforts of the bay area maritime sector. Our Bay Area maritime industry has embodied MARPOL and the spirit of World Maritime Day for many decades through innovations and programs that improve the maritime environment, maritime safety and security, international shipping, and community benefit. We will draw attention to and applaud those undertakings.

SUPPORT SEAFARERS who are at the crux of maritime. They operate the ships that bring the goods that make our lives comfortable and convenient. Yet, their lives at sea are far from idyllic, with many international seafarers regularly completing long term voyages which leave them isolated from friends, family and loved ones for up to nine months at a time. The Seafarers’ Ministry of the Golden Gate at The International Maritime Center provides help and support to the ship crews as call the Port of Oakland.
